Well, the report just came in yesterday. And guess what, I have high cholesterol. For a skinny guy like me, it's really hard to imagine. Now I just remember that I still have a big can of oat meal sitting in my kitchen cabinet. Actually, this is not news to me, as the previous health check also revealed this truth. So, after stop having the oat meal for couple of months, I need to be back on the healthy diet. I do not hate the taste of it, just that sometimes I am just too lazy to cook it in the morning. Especially during the summer, I really do not want to have a hot breakfast.
The health check process did have a surprise, BALLS CHECK! The worst part is... ANAL PROBE. I had no idea that it was coming. Man... if I knew there was this portion, I will definitely not go. But I am glad that I did go. Not that I enjoy those two particular unmentionable process, but it is a reminder for me to eat and live healthier. I need to do more work out. WII SPORTS here I come! And also I will be getting you, WII Fit!

Apartment Rental

We were talking about renting apartment in Shanghai. Most of our local colleagues encouraged us to buy an small apartment instead of renting one. The first reason, we are paying way too much for the rental. Secondly, the real estate market in Shanghai is doing so well, it will be definitely profitable when we decided to sell it later. I was tempted. But then, with the other housing loan that I have back in Malaysia, it's really not realistic for me to squeeze out the down payment. Needless to say, having a baby will require more financial planning as well. I was hoping to find an apartment right beside office, so that I can just walk to office everyday. More important, when our baby is here, I can spend more time with the family. The price of a 2 bedroom apartments around the office area can be as high as RMB8000! It is way out of my budget. There are cheaper options, perhaps around RMB3000. Those will be similar condition to Malaysia's flat. I try to avoid that. I need to make sure the place I rented is that place that I actually enjoy staying in, not forced to stay in.
Counting down... 17 days

If everything go by the plan, in 17 days, I will be a father. I will be travelling back on 27th Oct, just a couple of days ahead of the expected deliver date. We really hope that the baby will not come out earlier than that.

I was watching a TV show teaching new parents how to give bath to a new born baby. That is the hardest thing I have ever seen. It is totally different from bathing a dog, which I have plenty of experience. There are tons of things need to be careful about. It actually kind of worry me, whether I can manage it or not.

I guess even until today, I am still no mentally prepared to be a father. But then, the experienced one told me, you will get ready when you become one. Not get ready BEFORE become one. That sounds true enough to me. I will just need to do my best.

Back to office with typhoon

Yesterday was the first day back to office after the long holiday. Honestly, did not do much during the holiday, neither did I go anywhere. Had a lot of sleep though, and watched a lot of movies/TV Series. First day back to office is always hard, tons of emails to go through.

Remember about the typhoon couple of weeks ago? There was another one came by for a visit yesterday. Although it did not went through Shanghai, but the impact was much serious than the last one. My umbrella was damaged by the strong wind. It was raining non stop for the entire day. Most obvious thing is, the temperature dropped from 30C to 20C. I am wearing long sleeves to work today.

Holiday is good, but the end of holiday sucks.

During the holiday

Monday, I did not go out at all. Just stayed in apartment, watched a lot of downloaded TV Series. I cooked, I ate, and I cleaned the dishes. It actually is time consuming. Not really a bad activity when you are so free. There is a wet market near that place I am staying, and it opened until late evening. So it is pretty easy for me to get the food that I want.
Tuesday, had dinner with some friends, Little Swan Szechuan hotpot. Jlynnc said the name is kind of weird. The food is pretty authentic Szechuan hotpot. There is this dish, throat of a cow, I thought it is some sort of bamboo, silly me. There was some entertainment provided by the restaurant. First, there was couple of kids doing rollerskate stunt. Pretty amazing, and looks dangerous to me. Then, bunch of hot girls jump out and start dancing. It is not that I do not enjoy looking at the girls (yeah, I did not mean their performance), but the music was just TOO loud. Weird combination? Hotpot with hot performers.
Wednesday, BBQ! It is always fun to have a BBQ on 23rd floor roof. It was pretty windy, and you can overlook the area pretty nice. Just too bad that the location is not near to Pudong at all. Otherwise we will be able to enjoy free fireworks show. We had a lot of different kind of beef steaks, some is really too chewy.

1st Oct Holiday

Starting from today, we will have a week long holiday in China. Sounds fun? Definately not! Not after Jlynnc has gone back, and not after what I have experienced last year! Tons of Chinese are travelling, does not matter big city or small villages. Does not matter the spot require you to climb up the rocky mountain for 4 hours. They are EVERYWHERE! I just found out that some of the major subway station in Shanghai will be shutdown, to make sure it can survive in one piece?
How am I going to spend the holiday then? I have not much of an idea yet. But I am pretty sure that it will involve a lot of eating and sleeping. The weather is really nice around this time of the year to go out, not too cold or too hot. But it is really impossible for you to enjoy your outing when you are sharing the meter square that you squeezed in with another family, right? Perhaps blogging more will not be a bad choice for this week, eh?
If I am brave enough, I'll go out and snap some photos.
